An Engaging Curriculum
|
Gilmore College has a distinctive curriculum structure that is divided into two separate stages, with Years 7 – 9 built around an innovative Middle Years model and Years 10 – 12 focused on VCE and individualized pathways. Courses are well planned and clearly documented, balancing a structured development of skills and knowledge with student choice and interest.
Gilmore Girls College has an enviable academic reputation. Our students consistently achieve excellent results in the Western region. There is a strong emphasis on homework, structured work requirements and exam preparation.
Our Year 10 and Year 11 students are encouraged to “fast-track” into VCE subjects to maximise their University ENTER score. Senior students have their own study centre designed to give students a working and social environment in which learning and study remain the focus.
Our students are offered a broad range of extension programs from which to choose. Gilmore College also provides leadership opportunities requiring either long term or short term commitments. Academic research indicates that girls thrive in a single sex environment where they can take risks, pursue opportunities and rise to leadership challenges.
Outdoor and physical activities are essential for the health and well being of our students. All our students are involved a wide range of in school and interschool sporting events and competitions. Camps are offered at all year levels provide a broad range of valuable and often new, experiences and activities.
