Gilmore College welcomes overseas students into its diverse multicultural and harmonious learning community. The composition of the College’s student population includes a very wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and overseas students find this attractive and comfortable.
The Gilmore College program offers a high level of academic achievement, an innovative and well structured curriculum including a wide range of enrichment and extension programs and excellent facilities. Gilmore provides a caring and safe environment in which all students can reach their potential.
English as a Second Language classes are provided at all year levels from Year 7 to 12. The College also provides a homework program conducted in the College library and supported by teachers and tutors in all subject areas.
The role of the Gilmore College Overseas Co-ordinator is to conduct an orientation program for overseas students, liaise with home group teachers, monitor progress and meet with students to resolve any difficulties. The Overseas Student Co-ordinator also liaises with overseas students and the International Division of the Victorian Department of Education and the Victorian School of Languages.
Gilmore College provides quality support services to all students via a pastoral and curriculum structure to meet the needs of individual students in the classroom, a well planned careers program and a Student Services Centre with specialist counselling staff to support the physical and emotional health of all students.
Gilmore College is situated in Footscray, a western suburb of Melbourne situated only 6 kilometres from the city centre. It is also part of the larger community that is the City of Maribyrnong. Footscray is a multi cultural suburb with excellent community facilities. It is also a transport hub and has excellent public transport to and from all areas of Melbourne via train, tram and bus services.
